The classic harbor tour: one hour
The classic for a first visit: about one hour from the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, Pier 1. You pass container terminals and large freighters and, when the tide allows, cruise through the canals of the Speicherstadt. The captain or crew give live commentary in German, and a free audio guide app is available in 11 languages, including English. From March to October, boats leave about every 15 to 20 minutes during the day.
The XXL harbor tour: two hours
The XXL tour combines the routes of the one-hour launch tour and the one-hour passenger ship tour into one trip: two hours on one boat, either a launch or a passenger ship. That leaves more time for the Speicherstadt, HafenCity and the container port, ideal if you want to understand the port, not just see it.
The harbor lights cruise: in the evening
About 1.5 hours through the illuminated port: the Speicherstadt has been lit up every evening since 2001, joined by the lights of the container terminals, HafenCity and the Elbphilharmonie. Departure depends on sunset, so it shifts throughout the year.
The party boat: celebrating on the Elbe
Three hours of party on the boat, boarding at 7:30 PM at the Überseebrücke. Buffet and drinks such as beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the ticket. Tickets are available online only, in advance.
